Something we have to consider in many of our projects is something that is generally considered devilish in the UX world: advertising. We know that advertising is an important, if not the only, revenue stream in many products we design. We know we have to include ads, but we don’t want to destroy user journeys within our products. It’s a compromise between distraction, annoyance and getting the required impressions.
We aim to keep up to date with industry guidelines and found this presentation of IAB video ad guidelines, a helpful summarised read and good reference point for video ads, our most commonly encountered ad format.
